Western wins Reserve High Point Team twice

ALBION – Sophomore Carli Kerns was named the Reserve High Point Rider in both shows of a Western doubleheader for the Albion College equestrian team on Saturday. In both the morning and afternoon shows, the team won High Point Team honors.

In the morning show, Albion saw a pair of Brits place in the top three in open reining – Marty Cash (first) and Aria Morgan (third).

Kerns went on to win Level II Ranch Riding and place second in Level II Horsemanship. Senior Aubrey Kruske placed fourth in Level II Ranch Riding, while Morgan added a sixth place finish in Open Horsemanship.

Albion had riders place in both sections of Level I Horsemanship. Jenna Smith (second), Amelia Otten (third) and Anna Divis (third) were the Brits in the event.

Sawyer Haisma won Rookie A Horsemanship as Harley Davis took third in that event.

In Rookie B Horsemanship, sophomore Anastasia Kiser was fifth.

Emily Brooks won Beginner Horsemanship. In sixth in the same event was Janaya McKinney.

Cash and Morgan went on to place 2-3 in Open Reining in the afternoon show.

Kerns once again won Level II Ranch Riding and added a third place finish in Open Horsemanship. Morgan took second in Open Horsemanship for the Britons.

Albion received four more wins over the course of the show. Senior Karragen Roe won her section of Level II Horsemanship as Madison Brilley won hers. Smith and Divis each won their Level I Horsemanship sections. Otten was fifth in the event.

In Level II Ranch Riding, Kruske finished fifth.

In Rookie A Horsemanship, Haisma took second and Vedha Reddy was fifth.

McKinney was third in the afternoon showing of Beginner Horsemanship.

The Western team will compete again Nov. 12 at Grand Valley State.
