Hunt seat competes at Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio – It was a good weekend for the Albion College Hunt Seat Equestrian team, as the squad had a pair of good showings at the University of Findlay. Freshman Phoebe Martin led the way both days, highlighting a myriad of honors for the Britons. 
 
On Saturday, Martin finished fourth in open fences and second in open flat. Fellow freshman Katie Woerner placed second in limit fences for Albion. Additionally, Lucia Scouten showed her way to a second place finish in novice. 
 
Also placing in novice were Makenzie Malcolm (fifth) and Isabelle Adkins (sixth). In limit flat, Grace Szmania took fourth, as Emilly Ashworth was just behind, finishing fifth. 
 
Sophomore Emily Brooks was third in the Introductory. Senior Hannah DesRochers was sixth in Intermediate Fences.
 
On Sunday, the team earned Reserve High Point Champion honors by one point. 
 
Martin won Both her Open fence and Open Flat Class. Martin was also the High Point rider for the day, Albion's first High Point rider of the year. 
 
Freshman Emily Martinez was second in Intermediate fences while DeRochers finished fifth.
 
Sophomore Katie Dudenhoefer was third in Limit Fences and won her Limit flat.
 
In introductory, Brooks claimed fourth place. 
 
Sarah VanderKooi placed fifth in Limit Flat, while Ashworth placed sixth.
 
Adkins rode to the win in Novice while her classmate, Scouten, was sixth.
 
The Hunt Seat team will be idle until Feb. 4 when they travel back to Findlay.
