Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Five end in double figures as WBB dominates Alma

ALBION – Revenge tour round one goes to the Brits.

Still bitter after being upset in the MIAA Quarterfinals a season ago, the Albion College women's basketball team controlled the tempo from the tip, defeating Alma College 85-60 on Saturday afternoon. Winners of eight straight, the Britons were backed by a season-high 18 points from Riley Davis

The scoring was balanced, as Davis was just one of five Albion players to finish in double figures. Audrey DeWaters (14), Lolo Reed (14), Elena Welker (11) and Daniah Beavers (10) all added significant points for the Brits.

DeWaters and Beavers both recorded double-doubles, as DeWaters recorded career-highs in both points (14) and rebounds (10). Beavers captured her second double-double of the season adding a game-high 14 rebounds to her 10 points.

From the tip, Albion dominated the pace, as Alma never led in the contest. The Britons put up a season-best 30 points in the first quarter, leading 30-13 after one. By halftime, the hosts had built a 45-27 advantage over the Scots.

Led by DeWaters and Beavers, Albion outscored Alma in the paint, 68-28.

Davis added three steals and five rebounds to her 18 points.

Junior DeBraya Edwards hauled in 12 rebounds off the bench.

With a combined 44 fouls between the two teams, it was hard for the game to get into any rhythm.

Albion shot nearly 49 percent from the floor (38-78).

The Britons (8-1, 3-0 MIAA) will have a week off before they are back on their home court. On Dec. 17, Albion welcomes Adrian for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
