Women's basketball secures seventh straight win

LANSING, Mich. – With the help of 48 points from the bench, the Albion College women's basketball team routed Great Lakes Christian College, 90-38 on Tuesday evening. For the second straight season, the Britons are off to a 7-1 start and have won their last seven contests. 

Daniah Beavers turned in a season-best 18 points on a 9 of 11 shooting performance. Senior guard Becca Ross continued her hot hand, scoring 15 points including three 3-pointers. Lolo Reed was the other Albion player in double figures, scoring 12 points while bringing down six rebounds. 

From the start, Albion held control, as the Britons busted out to a 28-4 lead after one period. The visitors would retain all momentum, cruising to a 52-17 lead at halftime and extending the lead as the contest went on.

Both Riley Davis and Audrey DeWaters hauled in a game-best eight rebounds for the Britons. Elena Welker and Cierra Cole led Albion with four assists. 

Albion had its best shooting performance of the season, capitalizing on 57 percent of its field goal opportunities. Led by Ross, the Brits knocked down nearly 43 percent of its 3-pointers in the win. 

With Beavers leading the charge, Albion scored 54 points in the paint. 

Albion is now averaging nearly 80 points per game, winning their last three contests by a combined total of 142 points. 

On Saturday, Albion has a revenge matchup from last year's MIAA Tournament with Alma. Tip off at Kresge Gymnasium is set for 3 p.m.
