Track and Field returns to action up north

OLIVET, Mich. – At the triangular with Alma and Olivet, the Albion College track and field teams had a good showing on Friday afternoon. 

Albion got wins in the high jump from both Henry Wehrly (1.79m) and Elena Welker (1.53m). Wehrly then went on to win the triple jump with a leap of 12.85m. 

Also in the triple jump, sophomore Ronnie Puczkowski took second with a mark of 12.45m. Chuckie King and Jared Council turned in good efforts for Albion, finishing fourth and fifth. Ashley Dubois and Peyton went 1-2 on the women's side.

In the women's pole vault, Jocelyn Singer finished third. Sarah Stone (fourth), Hope Wasoski (fifth) and Madeline Rais (sixth) also competed in the event for the Britons.

Taking second in the long jump was Will Davis, followed by King in third. Lauren McDowell (5.22m) and Welker took the top two spots on the women's side. 

The throwers turned in an excellent showing for Albion, as Derrelle Murray (15.36) and Ed Hines (13.62) finished 1-2 in the shot put. James Mida added a fourth place finish in the event. On the women's side, Anna Albaugh, Tess Anthony and Sylvia Upthegrove went 3-4-5.

Albaugh went on to win the discus with a throw of 36.05m while Mida won the men's event with a 38.73m throw. Mida also won the hammer with a throw of 46.23m. 

Layla Wilks, Cianna Brown, Avery Campbell and Ashley Dubois won the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 50.83. The men's team also took first in the event, with the team of Wehrly, Davis, DaMario Chapman and Puczkowski (43.19).

Peyton Brooks placed second in the 1500 meter run while Nathaniel Jennigs placed third.

In the 100m hurdles, the Britons got a win from Nayaisha Edmond with a time of 16.18. Ben Yeasting won the 100m hurdles with a time of 16.39.

King went on to win the 400 meter dash as well for the Britons. 

In the 100 meter dash, Albion received first place finishes from Davis and Campbell. Campbell also won the 200m dash, one of her best events, with a time of 26.51.

Albion will compete at the Marv Fry Invitational next Saturday in Delaware, Ohio.
