Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

MLAX rebounds with win over Trine

ALBION – In a 13-10 win over Trine University, the Albion College men's lacrosse team responded following their first conference loss over a week ago. Three players recorded hat tricks, as sophomore Ethan Rottell led the way with five points.

Defensively, Jack Gogonis (3-0) was stellar in goal, making 13 saves in the victory. Bear Nelson caused a team-high four turnovers.

In addition to Rottell's five points, Jace Conley and Sam Puzevic scored three goals each. Captain Gerald Haadsma had himself a night, scoring twice, adding two assists, picking up 18 ground balls and going an incredible 17 of 22 from the face off X.

After Haadsma won the opening face off, Brock Yabs got the Britons on the board first with his 15th goal of the season. Trine quickly answered with a score of their own before the Britons rattled off the next three goals. Two from Conley were aided by one from Rottell.

A second Trine goal went answered, this one by Haadsma off a feed from Rottell. Despite a late goal from the visitors, Albion led 5-3 after one period.

Albion opened the second quarter on a three goal spurt. Rottell (2), Conley, Puzevic and Brendan Mercier all scored in the period. The Thunder scored the late two goals of the half, seeing Albion leading 10-6 at the break.

Out of the half, Haadsma found Puzevic for Albion's 11th goal of the evening. Trine went on to connect on back to back goals late in the quarter, cutting Albion's lead to three heading into the final period.

With 9:45 on the clock, Timmy Salinas connected with Puzevic for a 13-9 cushion. Albion's defense would be phenomenal down the stretch, as Trine's final score came with 1:27 to play.

Conley's 93 points and 68 goals lead the MIAA. With 38 goals, Puzevic sits fifth in the league.

The Britons will head to Adrian on Saturday to continue conference action. First face off will be at 4 p.m.
