Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WBB falls on buzzer beater

ADRIAN, Mich. – A big lead evaporated, and a buzzer-beating three pointer rattled in, as the Albion College women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaking 63-62 decision to Adrian College.

Four Britons scored in double figures, led by Lolo Reed's 17 points. Elena Welker had a double-double, scoring 13 points and bringing down 10 rebounds – nine on the defensive end. Daniah Beavers also added a double-double, with an 11-point, 11-board performance. Junior guard Riley Davis was the other Albion player in double figures, finishing with 10 points.

It was a tight knit first half, as the Bulldogs kept the visitors close. After one period, Albion held just a two point advantage. The Britons added to their lead in the second quarter, taking a 32-25 lead into the locker room.

The Britons exploded out of the half, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-9 in the third quarter. Albion held the hosts scoreless for the final eight minutes of the third, but the Bulldogs had an answer in the fourth.

Battling until the very end, the Bulldogs slowly chipped away at the Albion lead. With 1:04 on the clock, Adrian nailed a three to bring them to within four points. Following a Briton turnover, the Bulldogs answered with a bucket, making it a one possession game.

Unable to get a good look at the basket, the Brits were forced to hold the Bulldogs one last time. However, a 3-pointer from way beyond the arc connected, giving Adrian the dramatic victory.

Albion's bench struggled, getting just four points from its non-starters. Adrian received 13 points from its bench.

On Wednesday, the Brits host Olivet College for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
