Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WBB rights the ship against Olivet

ALBION – Desperately needing a win, the Albion College women's basketball team righted the ship, knocking off Olivet College 83-40. 11 of the 13 players that saw time scored in the Britons' victory. 

Leading the way was junior Riley Davis. She was an efficient 7 of 10 from the floor, scoring a game-high 17 points in the win. Elena Welker added 12 points, as well as freshman Erin Young, Young was bolstered by a 2 of 3 performance from deep.

The Britons raced out to a fast start, outscoring the Comets 24-6 in the opening quarter. Albion's strong start was more than enough to hold on for the remainder of the contest, as Olivet had just 16 points at halftime. 

Albion kept their feet on the gas in the third quarter, limiting the visitors to just four points in the third. The Brits received a phenomenal performance from its bench, as 38 of the 83 points came from non-starters. 

Daniah Beavers was dominant on the glass, bringing down a game-high 12 rebounds. 

Four Brits dished out four assists in the win – Welker, Lolo Reed, Nicole Sweetland and Ava Guilford. As a team, Albion ended the night with 20 assists. 

An efficient night from the floor, Albion connected on 52.3 percent of its field goals compared to Olivet's 25 percent. 

On Saturday, Albion has a rematch with No. 8 Hope College. The Brits will travel to Holland for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
