Welker nets 24 in loss

BLUFFTON, Ohio – Unable to connect down the stretch, the Albion College women's basketball team fell to Bluffton University, 61-53. Elena Welker scored a season-high 24 points in the loss. 

It was a poor shooting night overall, as the Brits shot 32.9 percent from the floor and 18 percent from beyond the arc. Additionally, Albion could only get to the free throw line seven times, compared to Bluffton's 21. 

Albion held a slim 15-10 lead after one quarter, but the hosts stormed back to outscore the Brits 22-8 in the second. At the break, the Beavers held a 32-27 advantage over the Britons. 

Despite being limited due to foul trouble, Daniah Beavers brought down 11 rebounds. 

Welker was the only Albion player to score in double figures. 

On Wednesday, the Brits resume conference play. The team will travel to Kalamazoo for a 6 p.m. tip off.
