Men second, women fourth at MIAA Indoor Championships

Eight MIAA Champs helped the Britons on the day

ANGOLA, Ind. – Eight different MIAA Champions highlighted the day as the Albion College indoor track and field teams competed at the MIAA Indoor Championship. The men's team placed second, scoring 115 points while the women took fourth with 89 points.

For the second straight year, the Britons swept the podium in the men's triple jump, as Ronnie Puczkowski was the champion with a jump of 13.11m. Coming in second was Omar Gordon Jr. (13.02m) followed by Henry Wehrly in third (12.79m).

Of the four throwing events, Albion won three of them, including a sweep on the men's side. In the hammer throw, senior Mason Darden won the event with a toss of 17.68m. He later was fifth in shot put. Eddie Hines won the shot put for the Britons with a throw of 15.84m and later placed seventh in hammer. Sophomore Tess Anthony won the women's weight throw, recording a toss of 15.49m. Ashley Booth also scored in the event, taking sixth (13.43m).

Albion went 1-2 in the men's 60m dash with Will Davis leading the way with a race of 6.97. DaMario was just behind him as the runner-up, clocking a 7.02.

Senior Megan McCulloch scored 18 points for Albion on the day, winning the 5000m run to claim her first MIAA title. She then placed second in the 3000m run with a time of 10:21.87.

With a jump of 5.29m, Lauren McDowell won the women's long jump. Peyton Smith also scored in triple jump and long jump for the Britons recording two new PRs. Smith was third in the triple jump (10.15m) and placed fifth in long jump (4.70m).

Nayaisha Alexander-Edmond won the 60m hurdles with a race of 9.34. The 9.34 was a new personal best for the senior. In seventh place on the men's side was Chuckie King. Later in the day. Alexander-Edmond finished eighth in the 60m dash. 

In the 200m dash, the Britons took second on both teams. For the men, Davis ran a 22.47 while Avery Campbell ran a 26.35. Chapman was fifth in the men's race as well, scoring points for Albion. Campbell was also second in the 400m dash with a rime of 59.48. On the men's side, Cullen Cox ran a 51.79, good for fifth. 

The women's distance medley relay team placed third with a time of 13:27.17. The team was composed of Colette Askins, Fatima Cruz, Olivia DeGraaf and Samantha Bieth. On the men's side, the quartet of Ruark Wicka, David Chafty, Juan Lopez and Ikenna Achara placed sixth. 

Sophomore Brayden Stavros was third in pole vault, clearing 3.95m.

KingDavid Adedapo's time of 8.90 was good for seventh in the 60m hurdles. 

Three Brits scored on the men's side in the long jump – Gordon Jr (fourth), Wehrly (fifth), and King (eighth).

In the high jump. Wehrly was seventh (1.83m) while Felicia Choate took eighth on the women's side (1.48m).

Ending the night, the men's 4x4 relay team was narrowly edged out for the top spot. Taking second with a time of 3:26.73 was Josiah Graddick, Cox, Chapman and Davis. The women were fifth, composed of Alexander-Edmond, McDowell, Askins and Campbell. 

Despite outdoor season on the horizon, some Britons will await their fate to see if they qualified for the Indoor Nationals.
