Box Score Albion, Mich. – The Albion men's basketball team had their home opener against Manchester and blew past the Spartans, 86-63.
Five minutes into the first half, it was a defensive battle with the Britons leading 10-8. Albion then later went on a 27-10 run during the first half and soared out to a 20-point lead at the end of the half, 45-25. The Britons shot 50% while going 36.4% from three in the stanza.
Manchester started to turn the tide and gained momentum during the beginning of the second half, cutting the lead down to 11 with 13 minutes remaining.
The lead climbed back to 19 (70-51) with eight minutes left in the second half. With three minutes left in the contest, Albion took a commanding 26-point lead (82-56).
Senior Michael Umeh paced the Britons with 17 points while Mason Brodi chipped in 13. Albion shot 50% from the field and held the Spartans to 26.7% from beyond the arc. They also had 43 points from bench players and 54 in the paint.
Albion will face off against Westminster on Friday, November 14 at 8 p.m. at the Westminster Classic.
