Three win titles at MIAA Championships

ANGOLA, Ind. – Both the men's and women's indoor track and field teams finished fourth at the MIAA Championships on Saturday. The Britons had three champions and saw the women's DMR set a new school record.

Will Davis tied his own school record, winning the 60m dash in 6.77. With that time, the senior still ranks fifth nationally in the event. Later in the day he was the runner-up in the 200m dash, clocking in at 21.80.

Senior Tess Anthony's PR toss of 13.12m won her the shot put for the second consecutive year. She was part of four Britons who placed in the weight throw, leading the way with a second place finish (15.69m). Ashley Booth (fourth, 14.55m), Skye Dickson (seventh, 12.95m), and Leilani Casteele (eighth, 12.83m) all placed.

After winning the triple jump in outdoor, DB Edwards kept her crown, winning with a mark of 11.03m. Prior to the triple jump, she placed eighth in the long jump with a mark of 4.96m.

The women's distance medley relay team set a new school record, clocking in at 13:04.95. The team of Fatima Cruz, Olivia DeGraaf, Brianna Bennett and Bianca Wiegerink took second in the event.

Albion saw three place in the men's shot put – Eddie Hines, Connor Dewan and Van Norman. Hines was second (16.19m), Dewan placed third (14.26m) and Norman was seventh (13.14m). Hines is now 22nd nationally in the shot put and all three recorded new PRs in the event. Hines was also the runner-up in the weight throw with a PR of 16.77m.

Henry Wehrly was third in the long jump with a mark of 6.90m. He later went on to take seventh in the high jump (1.84m) and fifth in triple jump (12.75m). James Grey's 12.94m was fourth in the triple jump.

Freshman Will Monnig was fifth in the pole vault at 4.26m. Brayden Stavros took eighth for the Britons.

Logan Vining placed sixth in the mile, recording a time of 4:20.81 – a new personal best. The sophomore later finished seventh in the 800m run with a race of 2:00.08.

In the 400m, Josiah Graddick finished eighth with a 51.08.

Ending the night, the men's 4x400m relay team of Davis, Shon Williams, Cooper Bright and Graddick ran a 3:24.62 to take third.
