Box Score ALMA, Mich. -- The cold and snow couldn't cool off the Albion College women's basketball team on Wednesday evening, as the Britons raced past the Scots of Alma College, 81-61 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Action (MIAA).
The Brits (12-5, 5-3 MIAA) blitzed Alma (8-8, 4-3 MIAA) across the first two quarters of action as they built a commanding 40-21 lead at the halftime break. Albion knocked down 46.7% (14-for-30) of its shots over the first half as the Britons wore down the Scots. Alma mustered just a 12.5% (1-for-8) mark from deep over the first 20 minutes, as Albion chased the Scots off the three-point line.
While the Britons held a nine-point lead after the opening quarter, they did even more damage in the second stanza. The Brits opened the quarter on a 12-5 run that featured five different scorers, highlighted by treys from
Ava Guilford and
DJ Pannell.
With the heavy lifting done in the first half, the Britons cruised throughout the third and fourth quarters, as Albion registered a 22-point third quarter on a blistering 66.7% (10-for-15) shooting mark.

Doreen Carden, as she needs just five to reach 400.
The Britons ended the tilt with a 35-22 advantage on the boards and hammered the Scots in the paint (36-24).
Meghan Trewhella once again led the way for Albion with 24 points, her fifth-straight game in double figures.
Ava Guilford and
Anna Honnen each finished with 10 points and six rebounds.Guilford added a team-high three assists.
