FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. — Luke Schuemann and
Logan Bride have each earned MIAA Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors.
Schuemann received the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week award, while Bride was the MIAA Specialist of the Week.
Schuemann had a career day during the first round of the MIAA Tournament against Adrian last Saturday. The sophomore registered a career-high eight goals as the Britons defeated the Bulldogs, 19-14. He also notched three goals and an assist in Albion's 13-4 win over Trine in the regular season finale three days prior. This is the second time Schuemann has received MIAA Offensive Player of the Week honors this season, as he did so on April 13 after scoring six goals in an overtime victory over Adrian in their regular season matchup.
Bride played magnificently in the first round game against the Bulldogs. The senior long-stick midfielder posted five ground balls, two caused turnovers, an assist and a goal that propelled Albion in the fourth quarter when they took the lead for good. Against Trine, Bride finished with an assist, four ground balls and three caused turnovers. The first-team All-MIAA selection from last season has played in each of the last seven games following an injury sustained in the fall. He has tallied 29 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, five goals and three assists in his final campaign.
Schuemann, Bride and the Britons will take on the No. 2 seed Calvin in the MIAA semifinals on Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. in Grand Rapids. They will look to clinch a spot in the conference finals for the 14th year in a row.
