DELAWARE, Ohio — Cooper Bright's runner-up effort in the 100m dash was one highlight of the Albion men's track & field team's fourth-place showing at Ohio Wesleyan's Marv Frye Invitational.
The Britons scored 89 team points, while the winning Battling Bishops posted 152. Other teams competing were Wittenberg, Denison, Heidelberg, Hiram, Capital and Bluffton.
Bright ran a 10.53, while
Wyatt Putney was the other Briton to qualify for the finals as he ran a 10.80 that was good enough for eighth.
Josiah Graddick and
Logan Vining each took third in their respective events. Graddick ran a 49.88 in the 400m, while Vining bolted to a 1:55.30 in the 800m.
Karma Evans was fifth in the 3,000m steeplechase (11:49.71), while
Dalton Weber (18:23.86) and Putney (23.16) each placed eighth in the 5,000m and 200m, respectively.
Ben Yeasting took ninth and 13
th in the 110m hurdles and 400m hurdles (16.31 and 1:01.78), and
Adan Rojas was Albion's best finisher in the 1,500m (4:48.62).
The Britons' 4x100m relay quartet of
Myles Hancock, Graddick, Putney and Bright won in a time of 42.13. The 4x400m relay of
Oghenefejiro Nakireru, Bright, Vining and Graddick were fifth (3:30.33) to round out the track events.
In throws,
Van Norman was runner-up in the discus (41.13m) while newcomer
Dewayne Williams took fourth (39.02m).
Norman also placed third in the shot put (13.35m), with
Trevor Lemaigre (12.66m) and Williams (12.57m) throwing top 10 marks. Additionally, Norman finished eighth in the hammer throw (41.60m).
As for javelin, Lemaigre (30.71m) and
Parker McDonald (28.97m) were eighth and 10
th, respectively.
On the jumps side,
James Grey took third in the high jump (1.86m) and fourth in the long jump (6.49m). Putney was eighth in the long jump (6.30m), and
Jajuan Johnson placed fifth in the triple jump (11.23m).

Albion will head 20 minutes east to Spring Arbor for the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic. The two-day meet will take place from April 10-11.
