Box Score 2 ADRIAN, Mich. – Albion College and Adrian College completed their four-game Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball series Saturday at Nicolay Field, and the games were nearly a copy of the Friday contests the teams split at Frank Joranko Field.
After losing game one, 11-2, and falling behind 5-1 in game two, Albion rallied with runs in the fourth and sixth to bring the tying run to the plate. The clutch hits didn't come and the Britons fell short 5-3.
Davin Montgomery (Novi/Northville) and Ben Gould (Alpena) each collected a pair of singles in game two. Montgomery reached on an error in the first inning and he scored on Gould's hit up the middle. Adam Mazza (Macomb/Dakota) drove in two hits, driving in John Gignac (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Central) with a fourth-inning groundout and hitting a sacrifice fly to send B.J. Konkle (Marshall) home in the sixth.
Senior pitcher Pete Salens (Bad Axe) limited the damage after yielding three runs in the first and two in the third. His line included eight hits and three walks with five strikeouts.
Gignac collected two hits and a RBI in game one.
Albion will challenge Olivet College for a four-game MIAA series April 14-15.
