ANDERSON, Ind. - Albion College track & field coach Lance Coleman said his athletes performed well for their first meet as the Britons competed in the Raven Invitational at Anderson University.
Albion athletes excelled in a variety of events, including the distance and hurdles races and jumping events.
In the distance races, Mitchell Klingler (9:03.26) and Matt Melvin (9:05.27) were the first two runners to complete the 3,000 meters, and Paul Lewis was the first runner to complete the 1,000 (2:46.79).
Alex Goricki achieved one of his career-best times in the 60-meter hurdles when he was clocked at 9.13 seconds in the preliminary. Coleman also credited with running an outstanding first leg on the second-place 4x400 relay.
In the jumping events, Lorenzo Reese cleared the bar at 6' 4" to win the high jump and Kylen Bradley was the runner-up in the triple jump at 41' 10 ¾".
Albion will return to competition Feb. 15 when it participates in an indoor meet at Trine University.
