OLIVET, Mich. – Zach Cooper was the only Albion College athlete to win an event Saturday, but the Britons competed well enough to finish fourth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree. The Britons gave Adrian College a scare in the chase for third place, finishing 17 points behind the Bulldogs.

Cooper was nearly a half-second faster than the field in the 110-meter hurdles, reaching the finish in 15.59 seconds. Alex Goricki came in fifth at 16.47. Cooper added a sixth-place performance in the 400 hurdles.

Albion's best scoring events were the steeplechase and high jump. Matt Melvin and Paul Lewis finished second and third, respectively, in the steeplecase. Melvin completed his race in 9:35.64. Joshua Lowe and Lorenzo Reese both cleared the high jump bar at 6' 1 ¼", but Lowe was awarded second place on attempts.

Lowe added a fourth place performance in the triple jump with an effort of 41' 10 ½". Kylen Bradley sail 42' 2 ¾" to finish third.

Also in the distance, Mitchell Klingler finished third in the 1,500 and 5,000 meters.

Justin Meredith placed in the sprinting events, finishing fourth in the 200 meters and fifth in the 100 meters. Justin Ware turned in the sixth-fastest time in the 100.

In the throwing events, James McKee was the runner-up in the javelin throw (159' 11"), Justin Jevicks was fifth in the hammer throw (130' 1"), and Justin Wilson was seventh in the javelin throw (137' 6").
