FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- After a stellar regular season that resulted in the third-seed in the ongoing Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament, a quartet of student-athletes from the Albion College Volleyball team earned All-MIAA status.
Albion's all-conference selections were headlined by a pair of first-team honorees in
Carly Frank and
Kayda Herrick.
Frank, who earned All-MIAA Second Team honors a year ago, landed on the first team as one of the top hitters in the conference. Frank has floored 424 kills this season for a per-set mark of 4.08. Both marks lead the MIAA, while the junior's kill total ranks 22 in all of NCAA Division III. Solely in conference play, Frank tallied 109 kills with a .273 attack percentage, both of which ranked second in the league. Across the season, Frank was named MIAA Athlete of the Week on three occasions.
Herrick claimed a spot on the All-MIAA First Team after claiming Freshman of the Year honors last season. The Jackson, Michigan, native ranked second in the conference behind Frank with 344 kills, while her per-set mark of 3.31 was good for fourth. Herrick registered 13 double-doubles across the campaign, with four of the performances coming within conference action. The sophomore was also dangerous from the service line and paced the MIAA with 58 aces.
Paige Williamson and
Molly Edmunds represented Albion on the All-MIAA Second Team.
Williamson earned her third-consecutive All-MIAA nod after turning in a string of top-notch defensive performances throughout the season. The junior tallied double-digit digs in all but one match this season, bringing her season-long tally to a conference-leading 481. Williamson's 4.63 digs per set was good for fourth in the MIAA. With 481 digs this season, the Caledonia, Michigan, product ranks second all-time in program history with 1,612 digs.
Edmunds rounded out the Brits All-MIAA representatives with the first honor of her career. Edmunds orchestrated Albion's attack throughout the season to the tune of a conference-best 1,313 kills and a .212 team attack percentage. Edmunds led the league with a whopping 1,064 assists, while her per-set average of 10.23 ranked second. In MIAA play, the sophomore tallied 297 assists and averaged 10.24 assists per set. The Trenton, Michigan, native became just the second athlete in program history to earn five MIAA Athlete of the Week awards in a single
season.
