The Albion College baseball team began its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association schedule Saturday with two convincing victories over Kalamazoo College, 6-2 and 14-0.

Mike Schypinski pitched the first game of the doubleheader for the Britons and he took a shutout into the final inning. He moved to 2-0 on the season with a five-hitter. He walked one and struck out six.

All but two Albion players recorded at least one hit in game one.  Michael Fischbach hit his first career home run in the third inning; a two-run shot that gave the Britons a 4-0 advantage.

Brendan Diamond, Adam Mazza, Davin Montgomery, and Eric Shimmel each recorded RBI for the Albion squad.

In the second game, Albion scored eight runs in the first inning.

Kyle Cassidy recorded a complete game shutout, striking out 10 batters and giving up only five hits.

Eight of Albion's nine batters scored at least one run in game two, led by Diamond who came across the plate three times.

Mazza finished game two with three RBI on 2-of-3 hitting.  Montomery, Kyle Kowal, and Tony Cappalletty each tallied two RBI in the game, while Diamond, Fischbach, and Bonofiglio each had one RBI a piece.  Fischbach drew four walks.

Albion and Kalamazoo are scheduled to play complete the four-game series with a 1 p.m. Sunday doubleheader at Frank Joranko Field, weather permitting.
