As a member of Albion’s Athletic Hall of Fame, AudreyJanelle will be remembered
for her many accomplishments in the swimming pool. The people whoknew Audrey best, however, have special memories of hercontributions as a person.
"Audrey was a team leader, a scholar, a record-breakingathlete," longtime Albion head swimming and diving coach KeithHavens began, "but what I remember about her most is that she was awonderful person. She had a smile that would light up a room. Justseeing her walk into the pool for practice would make my day thatmuch better. She cared about people, and it showed."
Even today, Audrey’s name can be found on the list ofschool records with a time of 4:41.38 in the 400-yard individualmedley and as a member of the 400-yard medley relay team during the1991-92 season.
Audrey achieved Academic All-America status in 1992, finished13th at the 1992 NCAA Division III Championships in the 400 IM toearn All-America honors, claimed three MIAA individual titles (the200-yard backstroke in 1992, and the 400 IM in league record timesin 1992 and 1993), earned all-league and Albion most valuableperformer honors in 1992 and 1993, and served as the team captainin 1993.
When she graduated, Audrey held the school records in the 100and 200 backstroke, the 400 IM, and the 200 and 400 medleyrelays.
Audrey completed veterinary school shortly before passing awayMay 7, 2000.
