John Leppi came to Albion after serving for four years in theU.S. Air Force. He played football two years and ran track all fouryears. As a halfback for the football team, John was selected asthe Most Outstanding Freshman. A sprinter for the track team, hewon the 100-yard dash at the 1957 MIAA Field Day, and the followingyear he won the 220-yard dash at the Field Day. During his fouryears as a member of the track team, Albion won the MIAAChampionship each year. John was Most Valuable Performer for Albionin 1955 and 1957, the leading scorer in 1957, and the co-captain ofthe 1958 team. He also established Albion College records in boththe 120 high hurdles and 220 low hurdles.

John has remained in higher education since graduation fromAlbion. He earned a doctorate in 1963, and since 1971, John hasbeen the chairman of the Department of Biomedical Anatomy at theUniversity of Minnesota-Duluth School of Medicine. He has alsoserved as the associate dean of admissions and professor ofbiomedical anatomy while serving as chairman. Effective January 1,1990, John will begin his new appointment as associate dean ofadmissions and professor of anatomy at Texas College of OsteopathicMedicine in Fort Worth.
