Albion College

Jay graduated from Earlham College in 1930 and joined thefaculty at Albion College in 1948. He was a professor of economicsfrom 1948-1971, and was granted faculty emeritus status in 1972.Jay served as an assistant track coach from 1954-1965 and anassistant cross country coach from 1955-1960. During his coachingtenure eight track teams and two cross country teams won MIAAchampionships.

Jay was a modest man who taught and coached throughpositive example and encouragement. His lifelong philosophy can besummed up in the following words: “No man stands so tall aswhen he stoops to help a boy.” Jay passed away May 6,1989.
