Scott Newsome was a three-time all-league performer as the trackand field teams led by Dave Egnatuk enjoyed success in the late1980s and early 1990s. He ran away with individual league titles inthe 110-meter hurdles in 1989 and 1990 and in the 400 hurdles in1990. Scott added All-America status in 1989 when he finishedseventh in the 110 hurdles at the NCAA Division IIIchampionships.

He held the school and league records in the 110 hurdles when hegraduated.

Scott jumped into a teaching position with the Okemos PublicSchools after graduating magna cum laude. He went onto earn a master’s degree in educational administration fromMichigan State University.

Currently working as a writer, Scott resides in Eaton Rapidswith his wife, Lisa, and daughter, Eliza.
