Tom Taylor's successes as an Albion football player arenumerous: Albion's Most Valuable Player three consecutive years;co-captain his junior and senior years; All-MIAA performer in 1957and 1958; MIAA Most Valuable Football Player in 1958; All-Americanand All-State in both 1957 and 1958; and the first Albion player toappear in a bowl game. Tom became the fourth person to have hisjersey retired, number 33.

After receiving a master's degree from Northern MichiganUniversity in 1962, he returned to his alma mater as an assistantfootball coach. He spent three years as an assistant, and then asAlbion's head football coach in 1969, he led his team to achampionship title and was voted coach of the year in Michigan.

He passed away on April 27, 2014.
