Ike Isaac participated in both football (three years) andbasketball (four years). For his outstanding performances on thebasketball court, he earned All-MIAA Honors three times, in 1943,1946 and 1947. Ike was captain and voted Most Valuable player ofthe 1947 team. His college career was interrupted from 1943 to 1945as he served in the U.S. Air Force as a pilot in World War II.After graduation from Albion, Ike began a great career as a coachand later as athletic director at his alma mater.

Ike was talented enough to coach four different sports atAlbion--football, basketball, track and cross country. An assistantcoach in 1953 and then head basketball coach from 1953 to 1959, Ikeled his 1957 team to the MIAA Championship. From 1953 to 1962 hewas track coach, and the team won six consecutive MIAAChampionships, 1954-1959. Ike then coached the cross country teamsfrom 1962 to1969, winning three consecutive MIAA Championships,1964-1966.

Upon leaving Albion in 1975, Ike became athletic director at theUniversity of the Pacific. He retired there in 1984 and now residesin Kalamazoo.

Ike passed away Aug. 13, 2013.
