A four-time letter winner, recognized with All-MIAA honorsin 1966, 1968 and 1969, James Bell was named the team's MostValuable Player and a Little All-American in 1969.

During his senior year, the 1969 Briton football teamfought to an outstanding finish—undefeated, untied andundisputed MIAA champions. The big game of the season was againstthe defending MIAA champions, Alma. Bell scored the winningtouchdown in the team's 7-3 win over Alma, the game dubbed the“small college classic of the year.” Bell also had a98-yard punt return that year and was named the team's MostValuable Player.

Bell is currently the assistant to the dean of studentaffairs at California State University, Dominguez Hills. He livesin Walnut, Calif.
