Selected to the All-MIAA second team in 1977 and 1978, andto the All-MIAA first team in 1979, Milton Barnes was chosen as anNCAA All- Region player in 1979. His junior year marked one of thefinest seasons in Albion's basketball history. The 1977-78 team wonthe first MIAA basketball championship since 1957 for Albion, andfinished third in the nation in NCAA Division III. By the end ofhis career, Barnes had established records for field goals in agame and remains in the top 10 on the all-time scoring list forAlbion with 1,137 points.

Upon graduation, Barnes continued his basketball successesas a coach. From 1986 to 1988, he served as the assistantbasketball coach for the University of Minnesota. In 1988, Barnesreturned to Albion and became the athletic director and the headbasketball coach at Albion High School. He coached the Wildcats tothe Class B state championship game in 1991, where they were therunner-up, finishing the season 26-1. He returned to the Universityof Minnesota later that year, and is currently the associate headbasketball coach.

Barnes enjoys golf, reading and his son Andre. Barnes andhis wife Lyn live in St. Louis Park, Minn.
