As a student manager for four different sports, SkipNeilson provided an invaluable service to the players and coachesof the teams with whom he worked. His impact is reflected in theseven varsity letters he earned: four in basketball, one in trackand field, one in football, and one in baseball. Neilson was votedthe Intramural Athlete of the Year for his Sigma Nu Fraternity, andSigma Nu won the All Sports Trophy the four years Neilson attendedAlbion.

Since graduation, Neilson has coached the Ford Adrayslo-pitch softball team to six World Championships in the corporatedivision of the United States Slo-pitch Softball Association(USSSA). His teams won 15 state championships and qualified for theworld tournament every year from 1974 to 1994. In 1979, Neilsonreceived the lifetime service award from the Ferndale JuniorBaseball Program for 25 years of service to the youth of Ferndaleas a manager, coach and umpire.

Neilson retired this year from his position as a seniorsystems analyst for Ford Motor Company. Neilson enjoys stampcollecting, sports officiating, and he is very involved with hischurch, the Drayton Avenue Presbyterian Church in Ferndale. Neilsonresides in Farmington Hills.
