Dennis Wahr earned MIAA awards on the links and hardwoodduring his career at Albion.

Dennis led Albion to an MIAA golf championship in fall1972 when he was the league medalist. He was the medalist with around of 72 as Albion defeated Adrian, 13-2, to put the Britonsinto a match with Kalamazoo to decide which team would go into theleague’s field day with at least a share of the title. Albionwent on to defeat Kalamazoo, 12-3, as Dennis posted a score of 78.Dennis’ rounds of 76—for a 152 total—later helpedAlbion win the MIAA’s field day by a 14-strokemargin.

The men’s golf team finished second in the league in1973 as Dennis earned team most valuable player honors afteraveraging 79 strokes per round.

Dennis also earned three varsity letters on the basketballcourt. He was an honorable mention All-MIAA and team most valuableplayer selection after ranking second in the league in free throwpercentage (.769, 30-of-39) and fifth in field goal percentage(.511, 46-of-90) during the 1973-74 campaign.

Originally from Jackson, the Phi Beta Kappa inducteegraduated magna cum laude and received his M.D.from Wayne State University. He performed his fellowship incardiovascular medicine at the University of California, SanFrancisco, and his residency in internal medicine at the Universityof Michigan.

Currently the president and chief executive officer ofLutonix, Inc., in Maple Grove, Minn., Dennis has more than 25 yearsof experience in medical device development, management, andoperations, as well as in clinical practice as a board-certifiedinterventional cardiologist. He is involved with the American HeartAssociation and the American College of Cardiology. Dennis and hiswife, Joyce, are the parents of three daughters, Jennifer,Christine, and Alexa.
