Virgil Petty is the only man in the long history of the MIAA towin the 100-meter dash all four years.

His best time in the event was 10.75 seconds in a preliminaryheat during the 1997 MIAA Field Day. He went on to beat the fieldin the final with a time of 10.79. Virgil also won the MIAA titlein the 200 meters in 1996.

Virgil added a pair of first team all-MIAA awards as a runningback for the football team. He rushed for 1,551 yards and 25touchdowns in three seasons against league rivals from 1996-98. The21 touchdowns and 126 points he scored during the 1997 season stillstand as school records. He also shares the school standard formost touchdowns scored in a game with five.

A speech communications major at Albion, Virgil has worked as anetwork engineer for the State of Michigan and Wayne StateUniversity.
