Competing in a league that has the No. 1-ranked men’stennis team in the nation isn’t easy, but Keith King overcamethat to become the first Briton to blaze a trail to the NCAAchampionships.

After playing at No. 2 singles as a freshman, Keith moved up toNo. 1, and he advanced to the NCAA draw his junior year when hefinished 11-4 overall, 6-2 in the MIAA, and No. 34 in the nation.Keith was a three-time All-MIAA and team MVP selection, a two-timeteam captain, and the recipient of the MIAA’s StoweSportsmanship Award in 1987.

Off the court, Keith was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity.

A product of Cranbrook High School, Keith currently resides inGrosse Ile with his wife, Amy Shields King, ’88, and theirdaughters, Sydney, Abby, and Whitney. Holding an M.B.A. from WayneState University and a J.D. from the Detroit College of Law, Keithis president of Flat Rock Metal.
