After spending his freshman year at Ohio State University, CarlLinborg transferred to Albion. Carl lettered in both football andtrack at Albion, particularly excelling in the javelin and polevault. Carl captured the 1933 MIAA Javelin Championship afterfinishing second the previous year. In 1932, Carl won the javelincompetition at the Michigan state meet and qualified for both theNCAA meet and Olympic tryouts. In the pole vault, he was the MIAAChampion in 1932, 1933, 1934 and established an Albion record byvaulting 12'4" with a bamboo pole. His multiple talents in trackand field made him the leading scorer in each of his threeyears.

After serving in the Air Corps in World War II, Carl joined theCorry (PA) Public Schools and was a teacher and coach from 1945 to1972. Since his retirement in 1972, Carl has helped coach theYoungsville (PA) High School team nearly every year. Carl had beena state pole vault champion for this high school in 1928 and1929.
