John Bennink used his speed to star on the football field and onthe track during his career as an Albion athlete.

John twice achieved All-America status and all-MIAA recognitionon the track three times. He won the league title in the 400-meterhurdles his first year with a time of 52.67 seconds, a mark thatstill stands as the league record. His time of 52.36 seconds in athird-place finish in the 1999 NCAA Championships still stands asthe school standard.

A two-time all-MIAA pick at receiver, John was a member of threeleague champion football squads. He racked up 995 receiving yardsduring the 2001 season, a figure that still ranks as the schoolstandard, and finished the 2000 and 2001 seasons with 1,627receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

John has taught German and served as the head track & fieldand assistant football coach at Clarkston High School since 2004.He and his wife, Krista, are the parents of a daughter,Georgia.
